A Norwegian oil company wants to drill in the Great Australian Bight, one of the last pristine environments left in the world.

You thought the Gulf of Mexico spill was bad.. When Equinor fu*k this up (and they will) the Southern Ocean and all our southern beaches will be ruined for years to come.

Our tourism and fishing industry will be hugely affected.. Not to mention our way of life. Stay tuned. * +

Seeing all the people going to paddle outs at local beaches is inspiring, many community groups are coming together to fight for the Bight. * +

The southern hemisphere parts of our oceans are all connected: penguins, great whites, southern right whales.. they all migrate within the watery confines of our continental landmasses.

An updraft in cold ocean currents in the South Atlantic will have an affect on sea life in the Tasman Sea.
Phytoplankton blooms from the Antarctic indirectly feed the fish of our fishing grounds.

We must all help preserve this more pristine part of our oceans. The Northern Hemisphere is screwed. * +

Well it seems that way. Lol.gif

We must not follow suit.. * +

Steller's Sea Cow went extinct in the Bering Sea. Who would've known that such a bastion of wilderness could so easily be tarnished by the activities of our fellow man. Exxon Valdez oil spill wrecked havoc in the Alaskan Gulf..

And Japanese and Norwegian whaling activities seem to have taken off again.

Then there's the microplastics issue.. * +

It all happens because there's a market for it, that's how market forces work. * +

Speaking of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, Trump has just rolled back the environmental protections put in place by Obama after the Deepwater Horizon incident. * +
