It is literally about excluding an unpopular and false theory. Germany has no freedom of speech. The holocaust denial policy is ridiculous. It's literally criminalizing thought. How weak is an argument if it needs the heavy hand of the government to defend it.

Surely it's not ridiculous though. There are people still alive who lived and suffered in the holocaust. They are deeply offended by it. David Irving has spent years exploiting their suffering * +

Let them be offended, nothing is actually being done to them. You would think people who suffered under one of the worst examples of authoritarianism wouldn't want more authoritarianism perpetuated in their name just because they agree with the outcome of it. * +
