bullying is really serious and it can destroy children. I know of a child who is bullied and the school has suggested she be moved to another school as the bullying problem is out of hand. nice way to sort the bullies out isn't it.

anyway there is talk of parents now being charged if their child is a bully. while I realise sometimes the bullying comes from home, it isn't always the case and although parents need to teach their children right from wrong etc, they also can't always be held responsible for their children's behaviour.

in light of how serious bullying is in schools, and then taken to social media etc, would you agree with this proposed action? * +

Charged money? That isn't going to work, when a lot of these bullies will be coming from low income families to start with. * +

charged as in a formal complaint legally filed against them. criminal case I am guessing. * +

ehh, I don't think so. I think the person doing the thing has to be punished so that they learn. Probably not great to show them they can do things and someone else will pay. * +

I don't see much point tip toeing around the fact that everything a child is, is a reflection of their environment. It's all they can be. Home life is a huge indication but peers are also included, bullying is always a chain of events.

I'd be mortified if my kids were ever miserable enough to maliciously hurt another. I fully recognise now that happy people with their needs being met, don't hurt people.

I only had trouble with one bully, he used to intimate loads of us, he picked on me once, he kept pulling the hat on my coat, I warned him if he kept doing it he was going to regret it, he did carry on, he found out very quickly to leave me alone, Alan got a punch in the guts and one on his chin, but I didn't put the boot in when the fool was inspecting the playground tarmac.

Depends if the parents show negligence in the upbringing of the child. If they're warned repeatedly and do nothing, then maybe. If they're incapable of doing anything about it the child may need to be removed from their custody. Even the threat of that might scare the bully enough to reform. * +
