Just wondering. As a musician I can play most of if not all the music I ever wished I could as a beginner. It's great! However is there a point where we feel that's it? Nothing else to aim for? (No matter what your art is).

I tried to get my stuff in the Friendly Street thing they publish every now and then, didn't seem to work. So I just ended up performing stuff with no aim to get published haven't been there for years now. * +

Yeah it's odd. There are many musicians better than me,yet they don't excite or inspire me. So no point aiming after them.
Do multimillionaire businessmen or women ever sit down and realise they are bored? Is this an existential crisis? Do they ever say ''What now''? * +

am I right in thinking there's an urban myth type story of some artist who created what was to him a perfect piece of art and then injured himself so he could never work again and undermine it ?

I get an idea of what I wanna do, and I create. I work on it, change things, go through all manner of head scratching during the project.. before I'm happy with it. And then, I modify it. Sometimes this means pulling it back to bits.

Because it's not about the final work. The reward isn't in the completed thing. Whether building, modifying or repairing - a project or just work - when it's done that's game over. It's completion stops me. And I don't wanna stop.

I've always had this. I think it's a very popular natural motivation. For me atm it's bikes, previously cars, if I go way back to childhood it was Lego, Humbrol models, etc. Others may keep up with TV series or do gardening.. whatever.

For me, the satisfaction is all in the progress. My reward is getting a step further. * +
