So , I've never really been bothered about animals, had a dog when I was younger that my parents got as I was always weary of them as a child, I liked this dog and took her for walks and was a bit upset when she died , I had a cat but only through marriage and my wife wanted one, I liked the cat and find cats more funny than dogs, I had a hamster that an ex got me as a present that i managed to keep alive for about 3 years and was sad when i had to take him to the vets to be put down using gas and lethal injection. Why do humans get attatched to certain animals and eat certain animals? Pigs are more intelligent than dogs, if i put up on facebook i just enjoyed a bacon sandwich nobody would care but if i put a post saying i had just eaten a dog then there would be an uproar, If i put up a post saying I'd just been on a pheasant shoot nobody would mind but if i said i had just been shooting cats there would be an uproar. Why do certain animals get special treatment? * +

I guess a dog can show us loyalty and affection whereas a hamster can't? * +

And there's not much meat on a cat or a hamster. * +

I get very annoyed when people moan about dogs and cats being eaten, especially when the people moaning aren't vegetarians, its very hypocritical. I'm not veggie, i mainly eat white meat and fish only but I'd never moan about a korean eating a dog or a china man eating a cat. * +

we've lived with dogs and cats for hundreds if not thousands of years, if pigs looked cuter and lived indoors with us we'd feel the same about them too.

that's the only reason I can see. * +

I'm really quite impartial, though i can see why some animals get special treatment. Horses are lovely things, even giving an apple to one you've never met before, they're tactful. Cats are affectionate. Cows and sheep by contrast are weirdos.

But obviously it depends how they've been treated by humans. It's not fair to judge the personality of an animal, or it's attitude to a human, in farm conditions! * +

I grew up with a sister who had horses along with other family members and they aren't loving animals , if u have a horse then its a devotion, every day u must clean their sh*tty stable and clean them and avoid walking behind them or they will kick you, when i was about 10 i was sat on the back of one without a saddle and it galloped off with me on the back and i had to hold on for dear life. Horses are c*nts. * +
