ok, wierdest thing, after the media coverage on Huawei tech being banned by a few governments due to security risks... last night my niece was visiting, and had turned off her phone just after 10pm or so. if you are wondering how I know this, I was busy trying to figure out why our internet was lagging, n was scanning wifi network trying to figure out what was killing the speed...

anyways, I know her phone wasn't connected until just after 1am. at 5 past 1AM my laptop and phone where only devices connected. then at 1:15AM suddenly I could see her phone was on the WiFi again, but she was still fast asleep. * +

a late night period of inactivity would be the best time to send new environment profile data.
data bundles sent via network would standout and could be easily inspected. * +

There will probably be an option that allows apps to update using Wi-Fi whilst the phone is in 'sleep mode', or something like that, that needs to be disabled. I would try looking for that option at the very bottom of the most difficult to access menu. In my experience that's where they'll try to hide anything that can be turned off that they don't really want you to turn off. * +
