So, Im super close to my maternal grandmother, she turns 80 years old next month. Its starting to sink in that I will not have her forever, I mean shes as healthy as a 80 year old can be and is not on any prescribed meds, is actively going about her daily life independently and all that. Grateful for that.

I dunno how Id cope if I were to lose her anytime soon. I hope I have at least another 20 years with her. Her upcoming 80th birthday just has me thinking a lot about the fact that shes getting old. She has great genes and still looks like maybe 70 yrs old so thats very deceiving as well.

Anyway, Are you close to your grandparents? An older aunt or even family friend that you totally adore and is fearful of the fact that theyre getting old?

My girlfriends grandad passed away last week at 97, she was absolutely heartbroken but she seems to of come to terms with it and is doing ok now.
My grandparents are on the verge of turning 80 in the next couple of years but they're all pretty healthy * +

Old kids die..new kids get old..middle age kids produce new kids..cycle goes on..peta grow up..!..and when old ppl are suffering with cancer like things..its better they die sooner * +

All my grandparents died before I was born. Except my dad's mum who died when I was 18. We weren't close * +

I was close to my mother's parents and it was painful when they died. They were in their 80s though. Sadly death is part of life. * +

Nana was a religious fruitnut in her earlier years, but she mellowed with age. I'm thankful for time I got with her before she passed, just talking and sh*t. * +
