So, Im super close to my maternal grandmother, she turns 80 years old next month. Its starting to sink in that I will not have her forever, I mean shes as healthy as a 80 year old can be and is not on any prescribed meds, is actively going about her daily life independently and all that. Grateful for that.

I dunno how Id cope if I were to lose her anytime soon. I hope I have at least another 20 years with her. Her upcoming 80th birthday just has me thinking a lot about the fact that shes getting old. She has great genes and still looks like maybe 70 yrs old so thats very deceiving as well.

Anyway, Are you close to your grandparents? An older aunt or even family friend that you totally adore and is fearful of the fact that theyre getting old?

Id that something that you have come to terms with?

I was very close to my great grandmother... when she died it was horrible... she was in her 90's but it doesn't make the pain and loss any easier.... you love someone not according to their age but according to how much they mean to you.

this year my one Aunt died that was like my 2nd mother .. it was difficult for me, I loved her so much and we were very close... but her death brought more relief than pain... he last few weeks alive was when I really mourned for her. * +

I had one grandparent I actually had a relationship with. I slept beside my grandmother since I was a few months old, I didn't want to sleep in my cot at night and would scream every night until my grandma came and fetched me. We were tight since then. I was alot closer to her than my mother.

She died at 78 I was 16 was very sad to lose the only person that was like a real mother to me. * +

Still have my maternal grandmother she's 101... Love her to bits!! I'd be devastated to lose ... But reality is she's slowing down and not going to be around forever.. heart breaking just thinking about it * +
