So as we look over the year, we'll share all the big issues and events of the public eye, and also reflect our own personal ups and downs.
So what did you do this year that you're happy with?

I never thought I'd give up drinking, because I didn't want to.
I saw it as different than smoking. With that, I knew it was bad, and adversely affecting me. And so I tackled it absolutely.
Not so, with drinking. I genuinely enjoyed it, and didn't see the harm. But the first couple of years after my marriage break-up, fighting over my daughter, and the effect it was having on her, my drinking got out of control.
Last year I reigned it in, and slashed my intake. But I still drank everyday.
This summer, for the first time ever, I abstained absolutely. Not for permanent, just for summer. And I resumed in September on a new ever lower intake.
But something happened - my body had learnt something. This had happened with cigarettes and I was worried it was going to happen - i'd gone off it.
I tried to continue just with the odd favourite ale here and there, but then I broke my arm. So i abstained again absolutely, until I saw fit.
I do not see fit. My arm is now fine, but I just don't care for beer, and something else has happened - I feel a lot better for it. I'm happy living alcohol free to such a degree I feel it's the best thing I did this year.
So... what about you? * +

Stopped munching on crisps,I had a very sore mouth apparently it's hormones causing it but I lost 10lb in a month just by not eating crisps and a few other highly flavoured foods,I was eating clean and still am and I will continue well until last night when I ate a bag of m+s cookie dough bites

Good jobs, guys!
I stopped smoking for almost 3 months now. And for over a year now almost, I quit marijuana and any hard drug use completely. I ended most of my friendships, guys who were into all these vices and especially here in Hong Kong where it's illegal as hell, so I just ditched them all. I started weight and strength training too, which has enabled me to get some serious gains.
And most of all I suspended my degree in one of the top law schools in the world to pursue something else. (Maastricht university)
But inspite of all that, I hardly feel like myself, as if I am a boring caricature of what I once was, it's weird having everything you once thought of as your identity stripped away from you. It's lonely. It's moments like these I realize just how it's family who are truly the ones who care, and my yearning to find out who I really am beyond all the superficial substances of this world has only gotten stronger.
Man, I shouldn't talk too much though. Good jobs on moving past your vices guys, and finding out who you are even more so! * +

There's nothing wrong with having a bit of clarity, it will only help you. * +

I am afraid I am boring... I have no vices to have to give up... speaking to my mother the other day about our growing up years and she said I was such an easy going child... I didn't get too attached to things... I could take or leave things easily... still am like that
but I would say deciding to come back home is the best decision / step I made this year... everything is here... the sea, my family, my husband, Cheri.... I really couldn't ask for more * +
