I think the problem here is that if he hadnt disclosed his blood suger stuff then he probably should be paying a higher premium and if he hasn't been paying the right amount then technically his insurence is invalid.
Its the same with car insurance, just say you modify it but dont declare it but then say it gets stolen, which could happen modified or not, your insurance is invalid * +

They are correct to refuse to honour the policy. He should've disclosed his medical issues, they should refund all payments made on his account as a goodwill gesture. Sad yes, but rules are rules. * +
