I've been considering making a seperate topic about this for ages. Basically it's the idea that one side can't win or make gains/profit, without another losing or suffering a loss in return, essentially rejecting the ideas of co-operation and mutual benefit for all.
Zero sum thinking is at the very heart of right wing, conservative and especially Trumpian beliefs.
