You're only as strong as your weakest link. You cant base your whole society around its weakest members or everyone will be worse off. You have to champion and look after the innovators, the investors, the intelligent people, they are the ones who bring society forward. * +

No one cares about them. It's great to virtue signal about low wages being bad while there are people who are willing to work for free in order to get a foot in the door who aren't allowed to and are forgotten. Everyone should have the freedom to sell their labour on their own terms and not be over regulated out of the market due to government involvement.

Yep, that's how i got in - i had the choice of shelf-stacking chocolate bars in a corner shop or repairing crashed cars for a living. There were no jobs. There was no money. But one got me in the door, one got me training. No prizes for guessing which i went for.

But i wouldn't be spraying and panel beating cars at 16yo today. Because they'd have to pay the minimum wage. And with no such vacancies, i'd be stuck with chocolate bars if i was lucky.

Simple minded dreamland politics and political point-scoring has fkd it for today's generation. * +

lol. No the problem is no investment in housing has been made by the government in the last decade. It's fairly obvious that population grows and so does demand for housing. They have increased housing costs and I would think most likely on purpose to help out their rich friends make some more money.

There's some truth in that - if you're gonna let five million immigrants in, over ten years, then you're gonna have to build a new Milton Keynes every two years.

One problem - it's taken 40yrs to build this one. * +
