If you want to try it you've got to do free ones and be part of the crowd and try to stand out and if you do they'll start to give you lines and if you impress from there you get more lines which equals more money.
They're always asking for background scenes in TV shows and films and commercials, just get used to the fact that you may not be getting paid for a while. * +

I got paid in tea and biscuits, a signed photo of the cast and a copy of the dvd . last BBC production of the mystery of Edwin drood, filmed at Rochester cathedral and the graveyard there, and a side street, watch it and find me in the background, I only went there to watch the filming.
