Whenever I watch a British TV show none of the people how they act are like the people I've met, it's like they came straight out of a posh drama school and didn't really live in the real world.
There are a few exceptions but mostly it's yeah real people don't act like that, American shows for me the characters feel more lived in and remind me of people I've actually seen in my life or people that I meet everyday, they just seem more believable.
That's why I mostly watch American shows, a lot of them though when they try to depict British people they get them wrong probably because they think that they actually act like they do in British dramas. * +

I tend to find British shows quite uninteresting as well. It's quite surprising though, considering that some of greatest actors in the world are British, one would think most British shows would also be very impressive.
