This particular allergy was sesame ,and it was in the baguette she bought at Heathrow pret a manger ..she was 'reassured ' by the lack of specific allergen info .. * +

food made ''onsite'' has different rules than food prepared at a production facility and transported to places of sale.

I didn't know this until I heard about this story so I'll forgive a 15 year old for not knowing either. * +

She was poorly educated, imo. I'm sure she had a basic knowledge of what to look out for, but to literally bite the bullet on a lack of information.. Either she had been told wrongly that all food had to have allergy warnings or she just got complacent. * +

That's partly my view ,Mikey ...there is an inquest going on just now which will have bearings on a pending law suit ...her devastated parents have used the words Russian roulette against the company ,whereas to me trusting a lack of signage is more in that territory ... * +

Maybe their reaction is more to do with them knowing they're partly to blame.

Sorry but if my daughter had a dangerous allergy i'd be an absolute fkn expert on it, and educate her as such. I wouldn't stop to track every possible source of the stuff.

So either she ignored them, or they'd done little of the sort. * +
