I don't think there should be much question over this one, if you are knowingly selling food to the public that contains, or even might possibly be the slightest chance could contain a potentially lethal allergen, then it should be clearly marked and say so on the packaging.
Regardless of arguments that someone who is allergic should be more careful about where they eat, if they pick up a sandwich and check the label to see if it contains sesame and they see there are no warnings about it possibly containing sesame and there is no sesame in the stated list of ingredients, then, they should be safe to assume that, barring foul play or willful negligence, the sandwich should not have any sesame in it.

How hard/expensive can it be to add a label 'allergy warning - may contain sesame(and/or a list of any other allergens it might contain)', surely it's got to be worth it, even if it is just to legally cover your ars* in cases such as this one.

I do agree with a first line of defence, despite the flaw being in the term. Whilst it may seem problematic to offer allergy advice that isn't any guarantee, it may be that flags can be put up where it's known a common allergen does exist - such as peanut in a dark curry, or milk in a salad dressing. * +

It has come out in the inquest that the on board defibrillator was not used , not sure why ...something to with it's position on board and H n S * +

It's a tragic case ,I can't help thinking if the poor girl hadn't been on a flight she'd have had a better chance ...
I don't see tho ,how outlets like sandwich bars can be safe for allergy sufferers tho ...too many factors besides the label
The peanut allergy astounds me ,one tiny piece ...I recall a young man dying from a chicken tikka sandwich ...again ...I'd wouldn't blame the makers ... *
