I saw something resembling a bike made of wood, it didnt have pedals, the guy walked whilst sat on it. This was 19th century. It might have had an engine, tho.

They couldn't weld, when the first bikes were made. Ironically, building bike frames by brazing the tubes together using lugs is still desirable today - i have a 1940s tandem frame made this way. * +

The first known iterations of a wheeled, human-powered vehicle were created long before the bicycle became a practical form of transportation. In 1418, an Italian engineer, Giovanni Fontana (or de la Fontana), constructed a human-powered device consisting of four wheels and a loop of rope connected by gears, according to the International Bicycle Fund (IBF).

Fontana composed one of the earliest Renaissance technological treatises, ''Bellicorum instrumentorum liber''. His machine book contains siege engines and fantastic inventions such as a magic lantern and a rocket-propelled bird, fish, and rabbit.
Fontana also built a 4-wheeled ''bike'' with rope connected by gears. It is not technically a bike, but 400 years after 1418, Baron Von Drais built a two-wheeled bike that has a cord connected to the back wheel, so when you pull it you come to a halt. * +

There's a guy I read about but I can't remember his name,an eccentric. He became a very wealthy man by selling coal to Newcastle and umbrellas to the Caribbean. He could barely read or write but wrote a best selling book. The book sold so well because of its grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. * +
