Compare to official new version:

Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
Weve golden soil and wealth for toil;
Our home is girt by sea;
Our land abounds in natures gifts
Of beauty rich and rare;
In historys page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
Well toil with hearts and hands;
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands;
For those whove come across the seas
Weve boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair.

In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia Fair.

chin.gif very different.. It's all about caring and sharing. * +

A grown woman politician (amongst other 'grown ups ') called her a brat
she comes over as thoughtful and questioning to me ,in her interview ...traits I would want in a kids education ...

Yeah, she has a mind of her own. She can agree or disagree to something whether or not its written for the country.

They dont want people to think.. just blindly follow. * +

How can you object to the title of something and completely ignore the actual content? * +

I wonder if there are any reeeeally offensive national anthems? chin.gif * +

it's never been a requirement to stand for the anthem.
we're too drunk for that standing bullsh*t.
It just gets messy.

It's also been acceptable to mumble your way through the whole thing.
or even just think about t*ts while looking around.

she really should have had a signed letter from her parents though..
like you need when you or your child objects to participating in rapeligious studies.

Lucky parents..
imagine if she objected to living in Kenmore.
on the traditional lands of the Turrbal people.
Where you can grab a new 4 bedroom home for only 1.1 million dollarydoos.
where according to last census data, only 4 aboriginal people live.
I'm betting a kidney their slice of colonialism won't be signed over to an indigenous trust anytime soon.

The school would have made an acknowledgement of traditional owners before the anthem.

She was given the option to participate or leave the building while the people who wanted to participate did so.
It was her refusal to take one of these options which she was punished for.
not for her non participation.

Benefit to indigenous peoples: absofuckinglutely nothing
