Lamico and the Smith are classic brunch spots for me. But definitely use yelp for top rated places, good reviews and good price when youre in any particular location. A classic dinner location is Delmonicos, Id suggest book your reservation at least two months in advance. Classic nyc steakhouse. Cheap dollar pizza around Times Square as well. Cheap dive bars.
Try to see a broadway show, or go to a comedy club. Get a hop on hop off bus and see a plethora of landmarks. I probably already said walk down Times Square. Check out Grand Central station and the shops there. Also there always some art installation going on there so youll be entertained. Go to the Sprinkles cupcake (atm) machine. Its a NYC staple on 61st and Lexington. Statue of Liberty if you can bear the cold on the water. Guggenheim museum, MOMA if you can. Take a carriage ride in midtown around Columbus Circle close to the entrance if Central Park.
Im guessing youre flying in through Jfk, in that case do not take the subway, might be a hassle. Dont get a yellow cab either, too expensive. Use an Uber to get to the hotel or around the city. Yes, do the yellow cab for the experience, but youll find Uber is cheaper.
Also if you take the trains be prepared to see massive performances in the subway and the trains. Be careful not to get kicked in the face from a random dancer. *
