Not trying to be insensitive here, but it seems been killed after a crash while racing runs in the family. His father and uncle died the same way and like him, they died at a relatively young age. It's starting to look like a family cause.

His brother also races (family sport, eh). Hopefully, he and other members of the family would stay away from motorcycle racing from now on.

It's quite sad though, RIP. * +

A friend of mine died in a bike crash a couple of years ago. The dad of my stepdaughter's mate. He was bike mad, but he always knew it came with risk. Theres knowing and knowing tho, i guess.

Still, in racing, the risk is so high, it's very much a choice. Yes, Michael is a huge name and success in arguably the most risky bike race on the planet. His loss will be another reminder for him. * +

Inches from walls, trees, lamp posts, bollards, metal poles, not to mention spectators... all going at upto 200 and odd mph, it's remarkable that more aren't killed really.

Connor Cummins @ Isle of Man TT a few years ago, broke a few bones but recovered and is still racing today. * +
