That's the thing that stinks. They said the final figure was what, 70? 1 if you include an unborn.. That's less than half a person per flat on average. The average population of flats in that block was at least three. Many were 2-bed properties and many of those were two couples - not all legally. Some flats had several people in them. It was a weekday, middle of the night. And only 71 died? That building still stinks. There was potentially 300-500 people in there. * +

Watching the Netflix documentary now. (Online)
I was on here in the middle of the night, someone said a London tower block was on fire, cue watching any video of it available online, updates...
What struck me about this was.. here was a building burning from the outside inwards. It went north quicker than sideways. And that just doesn't happen.
I realized quickly that it was the cladding because I personally have fitted composite cladding to buildings. One being the BBC in London. I've cut them, hung them, peeled the film off them, I know what they are.
I just assumed they were fire retardant. We expect that in England. It's all regulated.
I always remembered that woman on her phone, live streaming. She had a toddler, crying. Let a neighbour in. She couldn't see the fire, she was on the other side. Just the blue flashing lights down below.
The last person she spoke to was a firefighter - sadly, on a relative's phone...
Some of these stories.. for a man to jump out a tower is to lose hope. For the firemen to find out about those they couldn't save...
What's infuriating is that the government were told. There were other fires, in France, in Bucharest... They knew the problem, they knew the manufacturers, but our regulations didn't cover us. Here in Britain. Despite a prior fatal tower bock fire here too.
Without spoiling it for those who want to watch this, or patronizing those who already see the obvious, corporates passed around brown envelopes, passed the blame anywhere they could, and a government who gave them the green light and red carpet to do it.
Where is David Cameron, anyway? And why have so few been held to account..? *
