I only finished watching Narocos season 3 earlier, and I was wondering if drug cartels continue manifesting after the death of one druglord to the next, how do we effectively eliminate this perpetual cycle of drug trafficing in some parts of the world wherein they are even known as drug states?
Legalization of all narcotics might hinder illicit drug trade? but aren't they involved within all sectors of political framework, so what are we looking at? A complete radical revolution? or will the bloodshed continue and more people dead? * +

But prohibition didn't produce nearly as much savagery as some produced by cartels from Mehico and some parts of central Asia. It's a mistake, but to overturn after some cartels are worth more money than 99 percent of the world and have an army of their own? * +

How do you think they became so powerful. Prohibition lasted only about 13 years. In interviews with mafia members they always speak of how it signaled the end of their golden age. There was no money in alcohol anymore. Legalization pulls the rug out of any organized crime syndicate. I wouldn't be surprised if the big cartels had politicians on their payrolls specifically lobbying for increased drug control under the guise of moralism to protect their businesses. * +

Imagine the chaos there would be today if alcohol was banned like drugs are. All the drug crime and violence would pale in comparison. * +

No, I completely see your point. I even saw it on Narcos that the former president from Columbia was given 6 million by the cartel who had him elected, and thus the US formed operation to bring the cartel down was deemed useless as the prisoners would be out at the terms of the cabinet, who were pretty much in their pockets. lol. I am wondering more as to how we can overturn it. Drastic legalization of Cocaine? Society is built on a moral presumption as much as logical, and that's the thing with democracy, most people don't rely too much on their sense perception as much as they do on dogma.

You legalize it and trust that adults can make the correct decisions for themselves. You also don't panic when the inevitable consequences take a hold for the minority that can't handle adult decision making and you let them suffer the consequences of their actions. * +
