I can't speak for Bambi but I think it's an age thing, us oldies like to visit our branch and deal with people face to face, I've used the same branch for 30 odd years and we're all on 1st name terms and chew the fat if we get a chance.
Over the last few years those faces have disappeared and so have most of the tellers desks. All becoming more automated and computerised and run by a skeleton crew.
I only downloaded my banks app a few months ago and still a bit unsure about it, systems acting up and hackers etc will always be at the back of my mind but that's progress and you've gotta go with the flow...

true... and the present tsb situation doesn't instill confidence in any way...
I have received two cheques recently and will have to travel miles to deposit them, used to be just 3 miles away

Meh, online banking's easier. Two minutes sitting here, and i'm done.

The person-to-person thing is fake as hell, no different than supermarket checkouts, they don't care, it's a bank.

I'm covered if anything goes wrong. Got hit by fraud big time once, was reimbursed the next day. * +

I may be wrong, but I think these days you can take a pic or use a barcode scanning app to cash a cheque without leaving the house.

If that isn't the case, it flaming well should be... *
