It's the Facebook app that listens. First thing I do when I get a phone is delete/disable it. Just go on it via a browser. No need to delete your account it if you like facebook * +

I've never been a fan of apps on my phone because of permissions, and i use a handful at most - like maps, weather, email etc. which don't require them to an intrusive degree.
I don't use the Facebook app, it's not on my phone (uninstalled), i use Facebook only as a desktop via bookmarks. * +
