I was having a conversation with my friend earlier regarding the hierarchy chain in the animal kingdom whereby a stronger, quicker and more powerful animal tends to always outweigh more weaker species.
I noticed also a pattern in the wild wherein the quickest flock would get to safety, but the slowest of them would be devoured by the predator and in some cases, I've noticed patterns from animals abandoning certain members of their pack because of some form of debilitating injury and it results in a more stronger pack.
Now having had said all of that, and I think some of you may know where this question is going, but how are humans fundamentally different in this chain of hierarchy? Sure, we may have empathy that allows us to systematically follow our heart over cold logic in some cases, but after millions of years of evolution to the point where we are now, can we truly say that a society based on pure equality is possible to exist? A Utopia, if you may? Can we overcome this inherent nature in us to move further up in the hierarchy but to rather help the weaker ones beneath us?
I have my opinion on that, but I'd love to hear yours. Bow.gif * +

Yes. We are striving for that as a species but there will come a time when true equality shall exist. * +

They operate on the most basic of levels. Eat, fu*k, survive.

We don't * +

As time passes we learn to accept each other. Just look at all the strides taken this past half century. * +

Depends what your idea of a utopia is, im sure some peoples utopia would be a world free from illness and weakness * +

We don't

Right, so does that mean we are separate from most other species of animals because of our higher intelligence which gives us the capacity to empathize to a much larger degree than most other species?

While our intelligence allows us to do all of that and more, but isn't it capable of as much destruction as it is of creation? Do we still not have our natural instincts too as well that have a history of millions of years of evolution behind them that still drives us to fu*k, sh*t and eat?

Would it be justified for us to revert back to how nature then functions if we are to survive, when a situation calls for it? :) Because to many, that's how their mode of intelligence would operate.

Do you see my point? * +

As time passes we learn to accept each other. Just look at all the strides taken this past half century.

Well in the 20th century, a hundred million human beings died from destruction. That's one era and that constituted more deaths than most of human history in a single century from war, death and chaos.

From that perspective, doesn't it seem we are rather reverting than upgrading? Periods of peace have also always existed in the most violent of societies, that does not mean there is peace. * +
