I was having a conversation with a friend earlier regarding the meaning of civilization in the context of him advocating for a tribalistic world whereby people would be separated from each other based on their social identity and no group would comprise of more than 100 people within each section. He advocated that such a solution is the ''best'' solution to tackle conflict between different groups and perserve nature, and I do disagree with him but it makes me wonder what civilization really means.

We are speaking of civilization in the form of a globalized world we live in, and by far one of the biggest arguments against the notion of civilization is that it creates the ''evils'' of globalisation. So my question is rather this, isn't globalization rather an inevitable consequence that stems from us living in civilization? The main aspects of civilization constitutes large urban centers with full-time specialist occupations. we have primary producers of food paying surpluses to either some form of deity or ruler and large monumental architecture that are predominant in bigger cities. Ruling classes are exempt from manual labor and there is development of exact, practical sciences. We survive as a civilization to a large degree by regular importation of raw materials and there is always an Interdependence of classes with often times a strict state ideology overviewing it.
In this context, could we not argue that a globalized world is not just an inevitable consequence arising from our inter dependence with other states across the world, but rather also a method to keep checks and balances on our state and to prevent state tyranny?
Do we not see the consequence of a regime that thrives on policies of isolationism like North Korea and the kind of tyranny subjugated upon its population?
What possible solutions do you have in mind that doesn't isolate an entire civilization yet prevents all the power going to a central authority which is often the case * +
