if I'm not mistaken there's one line where the contract holder kept screw*ng up and lost the deal. it's now operating at a profit for the government if what I've heard is to be believed. * +

they were shiit because since I was about 5 the Tories under funded them knowing the plan was always to sell them off.

every 6 months the news after kids TV would mention a new report coming out saying that to bring the railways up to a modern safety standard x millions needed to be spent. the piece always ended revealing the government planned to spend about a fifth of what was needed. * +

dr beeching didnt , help our railways now i have to travel to Manchester before can goto leeds or Sheffield as the line terminates here and it was always very modernised brandnew 4mile 2 track tunnel under the pennines opened 1954 , that c*nt closed it 1981
