You probably already know that dolphins have a method of sleeping where half their brain is active, the other sleeping.. Literally half asleep. I don't know if that would work out well for humans (necessary for dolphins though).

Ostriches sleep with their eyes open, so they're always alert. These animals have it sussed, we are incredibly vulnerable in comparison while sleeping.

What if we encountered aliens who actually never slept? We'd be fu*ked.. * +

Why are you so fixated on sleep? * +

Or they operated according to a vastly different time scale.. Like their metabolism was to ours as ours is to a tree?

We evolved the way we are because of our environment, day/night cycle etc.. maybe there are things out there that are free of such cycles. Somewhere out in the darkness between the stars. * +

Animals are stupid - we made alarms so we could sleep properly. Whether i need to be up for work or my flat's on fire, i have an alarm for it.

Cheri sleeps with her eyes open sometimea... A source of panic and stress for us both. Me thinking she is dead. Her getting the fright of her life when I shout or shake her * +

Sometimes I have this sleep where I can feel I have drifted off, but I am aware of everything going on around me * +

You know you could just put your hand on her side to check she's breathing, right..? * +
