Alright, I didn't want to spam thoughts topic with this stuff so I thought a topic would be good. What are some of *YOUR OWN* theories about various shows you watch? I'm specifying your own because I don't really want a topic filled with youtube videos featuring nerdy people who actually know everything that will happen

I'm more interested in seeing the creative/interpretive process of your own thoughts on things etc * +

The Walking Dead:

I have so much to say about this show, it could be about people catching a particularly bad cold and (if it still had the same characters) I'd probably still watch it. The thing that I think is great is that there is a lot left unexplained, where did the virus come from? Who was the first to turn? Of course, the creator has specified that such things will always remain unexplained, but if you approach any story in a certain way you can infer a few things that paint a certain picture.. * +

Firstly, what is this virus? Where did it come from?

It appears to be present in two forms: a passive form which affects everyone (as far as we know) and a more aggressive form which seems to be passed on via bites or scratches. This reveals some things about the possible nature and origins of the virus, virus-triggered evolution springs to mind.. humans have managed to defeat/absorb various viruses over the millennia: virus triggered evolution is a real thing. It's almost a symbiotic process, so within the human genome there are these traces of ancient conflicts..

What if someone reawakened it within everyone? Just a trigger, that's all you would need. Scarily, such things are a very real possibility in our times (I'm not saying zombies are, but altering/rewriting someone's genome is now totally possible). * +

Or it's a natural process that is triggered within the human organism (think keeping population pressure down) so at some point in the very distant past a certain parasitic organism bonds with humans. It's largely dormant, but when population gets too high this organism becomes active. Suddenly, when people *die* they don't really and the resulting chaos ensures that things go back to a more manageable level. * +

I think it might have been like a behavioral thing where they tried to influence people's behaviours and release it as some sort of gas, like if a person is really mad they calm them down or if a person is really calm they release the gas to make them furious. Would be like having a bunch of soldiers then gassing them to make them turn into a bunch of raving crazy loonies.
But then it all went wrong and it was released into the atmosphere or it was a terrorist attack.
Didn't they show what happened on Fear, I forget what happened at the beginning. * +

They kind of showed how it built up, not specific about the origins of the virus but.. We saw something that interested me.

At the beginning of FTWD, as you may recall, we see a room that seems to fit perfectly into the post apocalyptic world. We soon learn this is not the case, Nick (our junkie protaganist) is merely awakening in his seedy heroin den.
That's the thing: it all started in that strata of society, the junkies and homeless people succumbed first.. And as there was nobody to notice things at that level it spread easier. * +
