Subject: Cycling tour of Britain 2017

This just reminded me of something on a vaguely related note. One of my mates younger brother lives in Scarborough and he's a mad(literally as it turns out, having been diagnosed with schizophrenia not long after the incident i'm about to recall) keen motorcyclist. A few years ago he turned up, completely uninvited, at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough for the annual Spring Cup motorcycle road races held there. He had somehow made it onto the actual grid itself during the qualifying sessions, on a motorbike he'd built himself in his dad's shed, expecting to be able to enter the race(alongside pro racers, including John McGuinness, Guy Martin and other Isle of Man TT riders). The trouble was he tried to line up at the start line facing in completely the wrong direction, as that's the way he had been practicing the course(which are public roads when the racing isn't on). He had to be dragged away by the race stewards. It even made the local tv news, ''idiot tries to join race'' was the local newspaper headline. *
