Did any fail? Or get a typical score? There would be an incline, some would be average, some would be very good, some great. Not just a single tier of results.

They'll know, anyway. Not that much can be done about it.

how do you know they couldn't score a fifty a month prior the exam?

Because I know their teacher and he told me two weeks before the exam they couldn't answer simple revision questions... * +

A simple control test based on similar topics will weed them out. No warning or prep ahead of time. *
