remember reading few years ago about a japanese kamikazi pilot, he put his plane into a dive and missed the ship , he crashed into the ocean and was fished out the sea by the americans, he spent the rest of the war as a p.o.w, he was so embarrased he didnt go back home after the war, to avoid bringing shame to his family.

that's the only reason any of them ''volunteered'', the threat that their families would live with the dishonour of any failure was one of It's ''selling points''.
