His problem isn't anything to do with Bluetooth, he says. It's Wi-Fi giving him problems.

I have a shortcut key for that. When I swipe down twice, a load of soft keys. I can select my favourite 12 from a list. It's also in widgets, so holding a finger on a blank space will invite the widget choice list.

He has the link, but it doesn't stay on, or turn on...? And it's something those phones are renowned for... I'd be getting the manufacturer to sort it. * +

Bluetooth tethering has been buggy since when I used it a long time ago. In fact Bluetooth is sh*t and buggy and should be phased out imo * +

Thank you all, I appreciate all your kind assistance, I have solved the problem, it was an app I updated that caused the problem, I just located the app. clicked uninstall update then reboot it started working.

click settings... from there select apps... find the gear symbol and click it, and choose ''show system apps''

from the list that comes up, choose anything Bluetooth related and click on it. depending on what version of android you have there'll be different ways to find out how much data that app is storing on the phone. once you've figured out how to find that you can ''delete app data'' which is something to try with all apps that aren't working correctly.

when you've deleted data from all Bluetooth related apps reboot your phone.
