We lost the war on drugs but we didn't. There wasn't a war, there wasn't even a skirmish or a shot fired in anger. We really need a hard and serious prolonged war against this blight. Serious jail times and fines for anyone caught in possession of any amount of drug. Plus they should also have to pay for the cost of their incarceration when released. Take the money from the wages or deduct it from their benefits. To win the war you really need to make people suffer and realise the consequences of their actions outweigh the needs of their self entitlement. Just a thought. * +

Thinking of any kind of heavy crime out there and especially offenders making themselves guilty of recidivism, I wouldn't mind if all of them can pay the cost of their incarceration when released by some way or another, or even during their time of incarceration. * +

what spurred this on ? there is some comparative evidence to show that the above kinda harsh attitude to offences and offenders does not have the effect it's believed it will. * +

Why wouldn't it work? What kind of c*nt would rather have significant jail time and financial ruin for the sake of taking drugs? Also wouldn't it be better that that type of person who makes that choice is better off the streets and in prison as they have nothing to contribute anyway. * +
