they may do phil, depends on the council. When the busses were deregulated it was up to the council to fund local busses, some offered subsides for a year or two. So a lot of firms started up just to collect the subsides. When they run out the firms usually cut back or stop the service. Have a word with your local councillor who should be able to tell you more * +

Christ we have 6 buses an hour on either side of the road. (3 of each go to the hospitals) If you go down the side you can pick one of 3 stage coaches. No shortages here. We have bigger budgets though. Probably from all the fines paid by people who didn't recycle properly * +

4 bus companies that runs 182 bus services and covers a space of 600km square and it comes every 15 mins all day from 6am-1am. That is what you called efficient here * +
