I do have a CD player that connects to the raspberry pi through a USB port. I tried several USB CD players with listening tests and choose a Samsung blueray/DVD/CD reader/writer based on its ability to read the discs very well. This also effects the final sound because the error correction dosent have to work hard to reconstruct lost data. *
