My great uncle, my grandmother's brother. Was born in 1896, died in 2001 aged 105. He joined the army just before the 1st world war started. He was a cavalryman. In some of the 1st exchanges of WW1 before the trenches were established, he was involved in cavalry charges against German positions, in the 20s he was involved in the design of submarines, when I visited him in 2000 he said that his biggest claim to fame was that he lived in 3 centuries..born in the 1800s,lived through all the 1900s * +
