Treat people who have caused their health problems themselves? Smokers, drinkers, the obese etc? If yes then where does it end? Do we stop treating people who have dangerous hobbies or get injured/sick through poor choices? If no, then how do you propose the nhs continues to be a viable service, free to all at point of access and offering unbiased care, regardless of age, gender, wealth or location.
This is the summary of the next debate at uni. I have to pick a side and fight my corner. Which would you pick? * +

People who get into fights while drinking etc should have to pay their own expenses. * +

dodgey 23.01.15 - 09:48am
Smokers and drinkers pay more tax so should be given priority treatment. * +

If a drug user was rushed into a+e with an overdose, they will be treated,if somebody who was obese was rushed in suffering a heart attack they wouldn't be treated because they've brought it on themselves? Do you see how hard it is to choose who gets treatment and who doesn't? So for me it's not a question I could answer just like that,it would take me too long to come to a conclusion!! * +

That's kind of the idea of picking such an emotive topic for debate crabit! * +

mz.c 23.01.15 - 09:56am
It's difficult to decide who would get treatment and who wouldn't. * +
