i was issued by work with one of the earliest mobile phones... Car phones had been around for a while and that one worked pretty much the same... It was a car battery in a canvas satchel with a handset on top... It weighed a fkn ton

Saw that in the bottom R/H corner of a screen yesterday, at the beginning of an old bit of film.

It used to be so normal to see that (or the Ceefax version) at the beginning of a TV program. *
