It's been 28 years since the disaster happened in the Ukraine, thousands of men risked and lost their lives trying to contain the deadly radioactive material,to this day the site and a vast area around it is still highly radioactive * +

Those brave men prevented a second explosion which would have rendered most of Europe uninhabitable for thousands or millions of years * +

Those brave men prevented a second explosion which would have rendered most of Europe uninhabitable for thousands or millions of years

that's an exaggeration. explosions aren't usually the biggest problem associated with melt downs..
the problem is the nuclear reaction can carry on generating heat without a working cooling system and become so hot it burrows thru the earth, hence the phrases ''melt down'' and ''China syndrome''. weapons grade material is of higher purity then fuel material, but you can't make an entire continent uninhabitable with even 20 of the biggest nukes... * +
