I'm probably late to the party here because i don't do drive-thru coffee sort of stuff, but if you do, don't have the sippy part of the lid with the seam of the paper cup toward you.
Instead, turn the lid so the seam is on the far side.

Obviously the lid can't seal across the seam...

Can't believe i had to work this out and suggest this to someone this morning. * +
