Hi everybody. I just got a new htc desire today..the shop assistant told me to charge the battery for 5 hrs before using the phone. Is this true or is it okay if i use it once it says battery full ? Thanks. * +

In the old days that would have been true - phones used to be supplied with brand new untouched batteries and they'd require that initial boost. These days phones are supplied with the battery already semi-charged so you can have a quick play. If it says 100 percent you're fine. * +

in the olden days, phones used ni-cd, then ni-mh batteries. these were supplied partly charged as to not destroy the cell. modern phones use li-ion/po batteries. a completely different type which has no memory effect from poor charge cycles. expect to see li-fe cells in handsets at some point * +
