This is a great piece of software for track recognition and info, and unlike Shazam doesn't cost you anything (provided you have a data plan). Now the BIG THING with Midomi is its ability to recognize a song from you humming or singing into the phone mike, and after half an hours effort I have to say THIS DOESN'T WORK - * +

I've sung in a few bands and it either hasn't recognized anything or offered me completely surreal results. I tried to get simple with it by doing Ian Durys 'Reasons To Be Cheerful' and it offered me Metallicas 'Nothing Else Matters' or George Michaels 'Careless Whisper'! . spotting everything from Ozric Tentacles 'White Rhino Tea' to Toumani Diabates 'Si Naani'. It's apparently ripped from an Omnia and this means that the 'menu' key doesn't work (and in fact will crash the app) but you totally don't need it, just the 'grab' button for recognizing tracks off your stereo, radio or tv, and the 'sing' button * +

for totally failing to recognize anything at all :) It's setup to work over wifi - to get it to work via 3g use a registry editor and go to: 'HKCU/Software/Melodis/Midomi/midomiGU IDType' and Change the value from 3 to 1. Get it here: http://ri.ms/gdrq (cr*pidshare link to 4.7mb .cab file) * +

*NOTE* INSTALLS TO THE WINDOWS DIRECTORY - i.e phone memory, and this may be an issue for some people (I've only just noticed) but I don't mind 'cos it has several other cool features, you can play a preview of your 'found' track, it'll display the album art thumbnail too, search for the lyrics or youtube, or, ahem, BUY the track.. yeah that's um, a really top idea..
