Are you aware that HTC devices are wide open to wap push attacks? I've been receiving obscene texts with a link to download what one would assume is an equally obscene video every few days for months from 'Unidentified Sender' and I've been at my wits end trying to stop them. Well according to this very useful thread at XDA developers: http://is.gd/vyUo the HTC default registry entries allow wap * +

push from ANY source whereas the Microsoft official settings only allow wap push from trusted sources. Since altering the registry values the messages have ended thank goodness, but to be honest that's the least of it, you could receive a malicious .exe which PIE may instantly download and execute. I'll post the reg changes below or you can visit the XDA link above. * +

Navigate to: HKLM/security/Policies/policies and look for the dwords 0000100c and 0000100d and check the HEX values for each. For 100c the value that leaves you vulnerable is 840, change it to 800, for 100d the vulnerable hex value is c40, change it to c00. Further info at the thread mentioned above. * +

it's pretty annoying.. and my little niece often asks 'can I have a go on your phone uncle Roy - have you got any new games?' and I don't want her seeing that kind of stuff pop up. Funnily enough; and with reference to the earlier 'filtering' remark - I was having a f*g in the evening sunshine the other day, and casually browsing Pro, when one of my neighbours strolled over for a chat - she glanc * +

and said: 'p*rno sites? I wouldn't have thought you'd..' and I was like 'whaa? it's just Pro.. Then I noticed the semi-naked woman lying across the top of the page and realised I TOTALLY hadn't even noticed', could have been - 'Free O2 sims' or anything, just goes to show.. erm something or other.. dontknow * +
