02 have launched an agreement with japanese mobile network DO CO MO to bring imode to the UK. they say it will launch at the end of 2005 with a raft of new compatable imode handsets. although the dury is out that some existing phones may be compatable. the NEC e525 is imode compatable according to NEC. this model was on 02 prepay only a few months ago but is now discontinued. * +

the e525 is a 2.5g camphone some branches of Woolworths still have some left, they have been discounted to 50 pounds. to be imode compatable a phone has to have cHTML and the e525 has this. but so does the Sony Ericsson P910i and even the T610 has cHTML. K500 and T630 may also be compatable. alas, no Nokia handsets are as yet. * +

imode is the japanese version of our wap, although it is supposed to be better than wap. ther is no 100 percent guarantee that existing cHTML phones will work with 02s imode when it is launched. it depends on what version 02s imode will be and if it will be any different specs that would conflict with the software on existing cHTML handsets in the UK. * +

on a plus point the e525 will work on the european imode system which is promising. lets hope 02 dont change much * +

so before you all rush out and buy a T610 or whatever, just bear in mind there are no cast iron guarantees of 02 imode compatability at this early stage. you take a gamble if your impatient lol * +

i dont recomend any1 getting the e525 i had this phone but when it went wrong after just 6 months neither woolwoorths nor o2 wanted to take any responsibility * +

Its true the 525 has software issues. But at the end of the day you have 1 year guarantee and retailers must either replace, repair or refund the phone by law. Its the customers responsibility to enforce that. Another words dont take any s**t lol. I dont! * +

Regarding 525 imode compatability i have recieved 2 calls from NEC technical support from 2 different operators. One said it had cHTML the other said it didnt, and yet the GSM arena and NEC websites says it has. So who are you supposed to believe? cHTML or not? *
