Lol its an identification number for your phone very similar to your cars VIN and chasis number, you can change sim cards but all your phone calls made received wap or web sites you visit will still transmit these numbers, so if you for eg purchase a stolen phone and put your own registered sim in it, then they would know the phone was stolen and come after you for it, you * +

You may not be charged for stealing but definately for receiving stolen goods, and the phone will be taken from you, as for finding out wat it is hmmm I forgot with nokia and lots of phones there is a code you type in and it will be displayed on your screen but some phones have it on the back when you remove your battery its next to the phones serial numbe. * +
