Device has the ability to install third party software which in turn increases its allready endless feature list. (simular concept to series 60/70/80/90 symbian devices) but the XDA series of phones is only really intended for technically aware people. * +

The new model is the XDA-2s which adds internal wi-fi capability and a slide down camera, with some other minor improvements. But if your buying on contract you are better advised to wait for the XDA 3 which should be 3g compatable.The XDA series of devices is the closest you will get to a phone that has 'everything' but its not all a bed of roses, some people find them to complex to use * +

The XDA phones are locked to only work on the 02 network. But of course any phone can be unlocked its just that some are more awkard than others. XDA clones are available sim free via mail order in the Uk and these models come unlocked * +
