Got this 3 exclusive phone over a year ago and got it unlocked at a local market. But one thing puzzles me, it works on other networks and wap is fine too. But it wont switch to 3g on the other networks even when there is 3g coverage on that network in my area. I have 02 and vodafone 3g coverage in my house on my 6680 on both voda and 02. * +

But when those sims are in the LG it wont go into 3g mode. I even tried manual network select which shows voda and 02 in both 3g and 2g mode, but if you select 3g the LG refuses to register on the network even though it is 3g compatable. Select the 2g network and its no problem. Strangely it will only access 3g when you insert a 3 sim. I dont understand, doesnt make sense. Any ideas? * +

Doesnt make much sense to me either, especially since the hardware is 3g compatable. Its either something 3 have done or maybe this phone isn compatable with 3g compatable sims from other networks other than 3? Maybe it cant read the 3g software/protocols on the sim? I suspect the phone is only progammed to work in 3g mode when a 3 sim is inserted. * +

Could be something different and unique about '3' 3g usim cards. * +

Thats the only explanation i can offer. Can anybody else throw any light on the subject? * +

maybe it got something to do with having the fone unlocked. Only as an idea, as i had a nokia 6680 once locked to 3, i had to ring 3 themselves to get the unlocking code. they warned me that the fone may not work properly once unlocked and needless to say it didnt. i forget what it was they said now as it was over a year ago. basically they dont like you unlocking the fone (for obvious reasons) * +

Thats odd cos i got my 6680 on 3 when it was first launched, they unlocked it after a year and its the same phone i use on 02 and vodafone without no probs at all. Think tandy may have point about the sims and phone progaming though. Cant think of nout else. * +

Simple answer would be your other sims aint 3g voda or o2 ones they normal 2g that why it wont register as any other * +
