Can any1 help me here differentiate these two? Im going 2 CANADA 2mos. frm now and asked a friend there if i can use my NOKIA 6230i? She told me if my phone is triband its ok. I knw mine is triband but i dont actually knw wat it means.. Help me guyz.. * +

its just the international bands for GSM.The more the bands your handset has the more countries you will be able to use it in.The handset will automatically switch to the appropriate frequencies. * +

GSM uses 4 bands. They are 850, 900, 1800 and 1900. What service will you be using? Fido uses the 850 band, not sure if exclusively though. Your 6230i is equipped with 900, 1800 and 1900 bands and may not work on that provider's service therefore. You need to know what frequencies the service providers use there and whether your phone is compatible with their frequency or frequencies.

So if you have a quad band phone no matter where you go you will have the capability of using a GSM service there, provided that your sim will roam on that network or that you have a local sim for the networks available in that country. * +

Thanks a lot u guyz.. Now i have a better idea about it.. Im using a simcard so maybe my friend in CANADA meant i just can buy a new simcard frm there and be able to use it later.. *
