yeah you certainlt can make a call on a wi fi phone. but i think wi fi has one big flaw, its not universal, you would have to subscribe to so many providers to guarantee a connection wherever you go, as nearly every location has a different operator. a bit daft really. unless your lucky enough to come across one of the free ones like in starbucks cafes * +

unless somebody changes this it makes the future of wi fi look bleak, at least for people on the move anyway. wimax on the other hand could ultimately be its eventual replacement *
